Welcome! My name is María Inés Ugarte, a passionate Chilean plastic artist, currently based in the vibrant city of Sao Paulo, Brazil. Since my beginnings in art in 1997, I have embarked on an exciting journey of artistic discovery, exploring the depths of feminine nature through a variety of techniques, colors and materials.
In this first writing of my Blog, I would like to talk about the series I am working on now and which is titled "Between TINTAS & TANTAS MU¬ERES"

In this series, I seek to explore the richness and complexity of the female experience, representing women as a "mosaic of intertwined emotions and experiences."

At first glance, my paintings can dazzle with their vibrant colors and vitality. But if you look closer, you'll discover layers of deeper meaning. Within every bold stroke and bright nuance lies an emotional palette that reflects the complex realities of being a woman.

In each portrait, I try to capture the multiplicity of facets that make up female identity. We are many women within one: strong and vulnerable, passionate and reserved, radiant and melancholic. Sometimes, what we express openly does not match what we keep inside. We hide our fears for love, we paint smiles over tears and we dive into the depths of nostalgia even in the midst of the most vibrant joy.

Gray tones and flashes of melancholy intertwine with the brightest colors, reminding us that a woman's life is woven with threads of light and shadow. These contrasts are an intrinsic part of our experience, and my art seeks to honor and celebrate them.

These women, portrayed and captured on canvas, are more than just spectators on the world stage; They are agents of change and reflection, challenging pre-established notions and redefining the limits of the possible. Their ability to adapt and flourish in unfamiliar environments is an inspiration to us all, reminding us of the importance of openness and empathy in an increasingly globalized world.
